An in-depth look at the offered art classes:

On day two of the retreat, Abbie will be leading an art class called "Mediation through Painting". In this class, we will focus on simple, non outcome based paintings that will help calm the mind. This class will be held on the beach and we'll be using salt water to mix our paints. The skills learned from this class will be there for you to tap into any time you are feeling anxious, stressed or just need to zone out. All art supplies are included. Each attendee will receive a watercolor spiral notebook, paints and brushes. The notebook will double as your journal for the morning journal prompts. You will leave the retreat with a notebook filled with your artwork and meaningful journaling from your time in Mexico.

On day three of the retreat, Abbie will be leading a natural dye course where we will explore the art of bundle dyeing. Bundle dyeing uses natural ingredients, such as flowers, leaves and foliage to imprint them onto fabric. We will be playing around with pH and the color changing effects it can have on plants and natural dyes. Each attendee will get to create their own silk scarf with imprinted flora from Mexico. There will be an optional trip the day before to Baja Sage, a local farm, to collect ingredients for the class. If you want to create more bundle dyed magic, there will be an option to add on additional textiles if desired.

Our inspiration and guiding force

"We are all bilingual. We speak the language of

indoctrination, but our native tongue is the language of imagination.

When we use the language of indoctrination with its should

and shouldn't, right and wrong, good and bad we are activating

our minds.

That's not what we're going for here.

Because our minds are polluted by our training.

In order to get beyond our training, we need to activate our imaginations.

Our minds are excuse makers; our imaginations are storytellers.

So instead of asking ourselves what's right or wrong, we must ask ourselves:

What is true and beautiful?

Then our imagination rises inside us, thanks us for finally

consulting it after all these years, and tells us a story."

MEALS

Most meals will be held family style at the retreat house with the exception of a few so you have an opportunity to experience the local restaurants.

The area has incredible dining options from the best wood fired pizza you'll ever eat, to the most tasty $1 carnitas tacos, the best fish tacos that were featured on Netflix, and the freshest sushi straight from the ocean!

It's important to us that you get to explore the area during your free time and try the local restaurants.

Abbie is an expert in the area, and can offer any suggestions/ideas for your meals away from home-base.

Maybe you're in love with cooking and using local ingredients- each housing option has it's own full kitchen, and we'd be happy to provide a ride to our favorite market to stock up on food.

Upon registration, there will be a meal form to gather information regarding any allergies or dietary needs.

We are happy to accommodate all special food requests.
